Teaching The Lord’s Prayer to Our Toddlers

Calling All Toddlers – Ages 2 and up!  Starting on Sunday, September 11, we are offering Sunday School especially for our little ones!At Grace and St. Peter’s Church we are especially blessed with a large, wonderful group of toddlers. Our goal is to nurture their ability to know and experience God in their lives.

We are training a fabulous team of teachers to provide the toddlers in our community with the special attention they deserve on Sunday Mornings. We strongly believe that even very young children have a spiritual life, spiritual questions and the vibrant capacity to experience God and explore faith. This is true even before children can put these things into “words.” We are starting this special Sunday School class as part of our commitment to nurturing our young children in their relationship with God. Parents of toddlers (ages 2-4) will be mailed more specific information about Sunday School for toddlers. Our Church School meets every Sunday at 9:45 am in the Church School classroom located in the undercroft and welcomes children from ages 2-12. We use Lesson Plans that Work; a Lectionary based curriculum from the Episcopal Church; as a starting point for our weekly lessons and we bring our lessons to life using discussions, drama,games, art, songs, and more! We plan special activities around the church seasons.  Last year we wrote and staged a Passion Play!

Allison Batson, Church School Director

Allison, a life-long Episcopalian, is a long-time Hamden resident and has been a parishioner at Grace and St. Peter’s since 2006. She teaches preschool in New Haven and is the mother of one daughter, Whitney.
